CyanogenMod 12.1 for Samsung Galaxy A3 (SM-A300FU)

If you’ve installed a custom ROM on any other Android device, then I’m sure you might have heard about the CyanogenMod ROM. This is one of the most popular firmwares available for various Android devices and several other custom ROMs use CyanogenMod as their base firmware.

Coming from XDA developer evilracer123, CM12.1 ROM is a fantastic ROM for the Galaxy A3 that not only looks good, but also feels buttery smooth. If you’re looking for a lightweight custom ROM for the A3 along with several new features, then this is the perfect option. It features Privacy guard, Themes Manager, Heads-up and DSP Manager.

What’s not working / current issues:
– Wifi is not working yet
– Preview in stock camera app is broken

Prerequisite

Before proceeding with the installation process, you should keep several things in mind. In order to install a custom ROM, you’ll need root acces on your Galaxy A3. You’ll also need a custom recovery such as TWRP installed in order to flash the ROM on your phone. Installing a custom ROM and rooting your phone are both risky and you should only continue at your own responsibility.

Make sure that you create a full backup of all your important files. Also, make sure that your phone is charged at least 70% before proceeding with the installation process. This guide is only for the SM-A300FU Galaxy A3 variant and if you try to install this on any other variant, chances are that you’ll end up bricking your phone.
